Madeyski [17] provided an empirical evidence (via a series of laboratory experiments with over 200 developers) regarding the superiority of the TDD practice over the traditional Test-Last approach or testing for correctness approach, with respect to the lower coupling between objects (CBO). The mean effect size represents a medium (but close to large) effect on the basis of meta-analysis of the performed experiments which is a substantial finding. It suggests a better modularization (., a more modular design), easier reuse and testing of the developed software products due to the TDD programming practice. [17] Madeyski also measured the effect of the TDD practice on unit tests using branch coverage (BC) and mutation score indicator (MSI), [18] [19] [20] which are indicators of the thoroughness and the fault detection effectiveness of unit tests, respectively. The effect size of TDD on branch coverage was medium in size and therefore is considered substantive effect. [17]

It is obvious that the point if the article is not to focus solely on the scientific evidence of benefit that music education has on the brain, though that makes a good argument as well. I appreciate that this author suggests that music stands on its own two feet and is part of the human condition. Music is in our culture and our surroundings in numerous ways. When we don’t become musical beings, even to the mildest degree, we alienate ourselves from much of the cultural ritual and tradition that defines our nation’s fabric. Can you sing the national anthem? Can you sing along in church? Can you join in music-making at the holidays? Can you discriminate between quality, sophisticated, artful music and mediocre fluff that is made only to make a quick buck? Do you understand the ways in which music was/is used in cultural identification and participation? I could go on and cite hundreds of sources from the ethnomusicological and psychological standpoint but the point is that music is a part of life and should not be left out of the human experience. If and when it is, it will truly redefine us as a people who care more about numbers, data, competition, success and failure instead of beauty, community, tradition and historical identity. The arts tell a story and allow us to keep doing the same. I don’t need scientific data to prove that.

For beginners who are concerned about their motivation or ability to walk far, I recommend the "five minutes out, five minutes back" plan. Just like it sounds, you walk out for five minutes, turn around, and walk back. If you feel ambitious, you can start with 10 minutes out, 10 minutes back, and off you go about your day! Increase by two to three minutes per week and before you know it you'll be up to 30 minutes. It sounds too simple to be true, but this is a realistic and achievable way to get started, and if you follow it, you'll be walking plenty before you know it.
